Volunteerism is an inherent component of America's society, and hospice provides a unique opportunity for an individual to contribute to the comfort of the terminally ill and their families. The growth of hospice within the past few years and the nature of the hospice patient and family dictates the need for a large group of active volunteers. ATL Hospice and Palliative Care recognizes the value of volunteer support for the patient and family. We recruit and train volunteers to carry out defined duties in providing service to patients and families. ATL Hospice and Palliative Care provides each volunteer with appropriate orientation and training that is consistent with acceptable standards of practice. Volunteers, whether used in administrative or direct patient care roles, must abide by the policies and procedures of ATL Hospice and Palliative Care.
